Tara M. Stearman is a Principal of Aviation with over 18 years of progressive experience in the aviation industry bringing a wealth of knowledge of aviation and aviation safety culture. Her experience spans the breadth of the National Airspace System serving as an air traffic control specialist, a flight services specialist, quality assurance systems engineer, airport planner and airport project manager, safety and operations subject matter exert and advisor. Additionally, she has developed and delivered numerous regulatory aviation training programs.
Her passion for aviation excellence extends beyond any single professional role as she seeks opportunities to improve safety through education. As both an FAA licensed Advanced Ground Instructor and Part 107 UAS operator, she is uniquely positioned to leverage her diverse professional aviation industry experience with her fixed-wing and rotorcraft experience to deliver well-rounded industry perspectives and education with a relevant balance between curriculum and real-world scenarios.
Tara is a graduate of the FAA Air Route Traffic Control Academy, the Lockheed Martin Flight Service Academy, holds a Master of Science in Project Management with a focus in aviation efficiencies and safety, a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management and an AAS in Air Traffic Control. Tara is also Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified, Certified Scrum Master and holds several American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) certifications.
Outside of her work at Evans, Tara is passionate about serving within the aviation industry to support the advancement of aviation practices. Her current roles include Scholarship Committee Member, Air Traffic Control Association; Aviation SME on the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) National Transportation Committee; Transportation Research Program (TRP) Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Champion Program Cohort Member and ACRP Champion Advisory Committee Member.
In her free time, aside from exercising her aviation passions, you will likely find her outdoors year round fishing, hunting and honing her expert marksmanship, all of which are driven by her Alaska-born and raised roots. She also enjoys volunteering with various organizations and spending time with her husband, their four-legged babies, and her close-knit family.
